Quebec Gets Something Right

Just thought I'd give the Quebec government props for having the first cabinet in North America with an equal number of men and women serving, with Yolande James, our first black minister among them. Brava!

Now if only Charest could have found the time to include more than ONE anglophone... hey, Charest, you're leader of the Liberal party of Quebec, remember? Liberal? Who do you think still voted blindly for you out of sheer fear of separation, not because you deserve to be in power? Hmm?

Hey, what?? He's got only 18 ministers, right? How many anglos do you want there to be?

Aside from that, WE CAN DO IT!!! We, as in you and me. And maybe a few others.

one out of 18 means about 5% of his ministers are french. anglos make up about 15% of quebec's population, which means he should have three if he's going to be representational. add to that the fact that nearly all anglos faithfully vote liberal in every election, that makes them an even higher percentage of his constituency. i'm just saying, it seems a bit hyocritical to create a cabinet based on more equitable representation and simultaneously cut out 2/3 of the cabinet's anglo ministers.
